Rolls Royce Reports Best First Quarter In 116 Years

The luxury automaker Rolls Royce posted its best Q1 sales record in 116 years creating a history.

The automaker owned by BMW managed to deliver 1,380 cars in the first quarter. This was up 62 per cent from the same quarter in 2020 as the pandemic started impacting sales and manufacturing. The quarter even surpassed its previous high in 2019, setting a record. The company witnessed an increase in demand across all markets, with the highest growth recorded in the United States, China and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Cullinan, a nearly 3-ton SUV that starts at $335,000 but usually sells for more than $400,000 with options and customizations, is in particularly high demand, according to the company. Sales of its latest Ghost model, which starts at $332,000 and includes an optional LED interior roof to simulate a starry sky, are also powerful. Bespoke models like the ‘Koa Phantom’ and ‘Iridescent Opulence Phantom’ were also delivered this year. Moreover, all 20 units of the Phantom Tempus Collection cars have been allocated to customers worldwide.

Rolls-record-breaking Royce’s quarter is the latest indication that the world’s rich, who have added trillions of dollars to their fortunes due to growing stocks since the outbreak began, are able to invest. Other high-end car manufacturers, such as Bentley and Lamborghini, have also reported good recent sales.

Rolls Royce said demand continues to remain strong “with order books extending well into the second half of 2021.”

Rolls Royce now has 135 dealerships in over 50 countries around the world. The Cullinan is currently priced from Rs 6.95 crore in the Indian market, while the Ghost is priced from Rs 6.95 crore to Rs 7.95 crore, both without options.

The Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 twin-turbocharged petrol engine with 563 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. This engine is also available with the Ghost. Aside from these two, Rolls-Royce still sells the Wraith, Dawn, and Phantom in India.
