Anger against billionaires isn’t a new phenomenon. It has bubbled under the surface for ages with a multitude of sightings from time to time. The richer you are, the greater you can expect the wrath to be — although you are mostly attacked with dry humor. Since his announcement to take a flight into space aboard a Blue Origin aircraft, Jeff Bezos has been at the centre of multiple memes and petitions. People simply don’t want him to get back to earth.

The world doesn’t need any more billionaires, they say.

While one of the petitions likens him to supervillain called Lex Luthor, the other calls for him to not be allowed to touch back home. Both of these petitions were started a few days ago and have collectively garnered over 90k signatures on Change.org.

One of the lines meant to convince people for signing the petition to support the cause says, “This may be our last chance before they enable the 5G microchips and perform a mass takeover.”

A rather bizarre petition from 2020 has resurfaced to make headlines, where people (over 12K so far!) are signing to nudge Bezos to buy and eat the Mona Lisa, a world-renowned artwork.

The idea behind this petition is simple: He has so much money, he can do whatever he wants. So, he should probably use his resources to do something bizarre, something that has never been done before.

Though meant to be a harmless joke, one can easily ascertain the level of dislike people have for billionaires like Bezos, especially in the current climate of doom, job losses and economic decline caused by a raging pandemic.
